STEP ONE : Select a chain for your necklace or bracelet. The first decision will be if you want Gold-filled or Gold-plated
What is Gold Plated?
Gold-plated jewelry refers to items made from base metals coated with a thin layer of electroplated gold on top.
Compared to other types of gold jewelry, gold-plated items are generally more affordable but tend not to last as long as their counterparts due to wear and tear eventually revealing the underlying metal underneath.
It’s crucial for those who wear this type of jewelry frequently to be mindful while doing everyday activities like showering or washing dishes since moisture can cause the plating process to deteriorate faster.
What is Gold Filled?
Gold-filled pieces consist of base metals covered by thicker layers of karat or pure gold mechanically bonded onto it using heat and pressure attachments. The thickness requirement for gold-filled jewelry is regulated by the American FTC.
Gold filled items are more durable than gold-plated but less expensive than solid gold pieces. They’re an excellent choice for people with sensitive skin and those who seek high-quality jewelry on a budget. To care for your gold-filled items, avoid exposing them to harsh chemicals such as perfumes or lotions and store them in a dry place when not being worn.
STEP TWO: Select your charms. Again we have both gold filled and gold plated options.
Charms can either be LINKED to a chain or DANGLE on a carabiner. LINKED means the charms are fixed to the chain, separated, and can't move around. DANGLED means the charms will all hang at the carabiner. The only necklace we offer for a dangle option is the Ashley necklace with Piper carabiner.
TIP: If you have your charms LINKED we suggest an odd number of charms so that one charm can be the "anchor" and hang in the middle.
STEP THREE: Do you need to include a note with your order? If you have a preference as to how the charms will be placed in your chain please include a note. Otherwise, we will use our best judgement and it will look fabulous- I promise!
